The Kingdom: A fantastical castle in the middle of a sea of lights. The Excalibur Hotel and Casino stands out on the Las Vegas Strip as a throwback to the days of King Arthur and his court at Camelot. Impossible to miss, the Excalibur Castle rises up into the Las Vegas skyline like a fairytale from a child’s storybook and that image generally captures the imagination and enthusiasm of all the guests that stay there. The Arrival: You cannot miss the Excalibur no matter which direction you approach it from. Like so many of the other Las Vegas themed properties, the Excalibur stands out like a landmark on the Las Vegas Strip. But one of the challenges is that even though you can find the Excalibur, actually navigating the entry way in your automobile can be challenging and confusing, but this little hiccup in no way is a reflection on the resort, but more of the creative work the property has had to do to be able to provide adequate parking and facilities for their guests. Once you manage to park your automobile or escape your cab the rest of the check in process should move smoothly and quickly so that in no time at all you should be enjoying the view of your room.
The Hotel: First and foremost the Excalibur is a family oriented hotel that can nearly rival Circus Circus in its family friendly atmosphere and entertainment for both young and old. The rooms are reasonably priced, some might even say that the Excalibur is a bargain, especially if you plan on not spending much time in your room, as is the case with most guests to Las Vegas. The Excalibur offers the normal fare of rooms and suites located in towers that can provide views across Las Vegas Blvd. The hotel also does an excellent job of incorporating its theme into the feel of the hotel without overwhelming its guests, contrary to what the outside of the property might suggest. A number of guest have suggested that the only thing they would really like to see if a lightening up of the guest quarters so make it a little more fun and carefree.

The Entertainment: Once you have checked in and found your room, there is little reason to go back unless you either need a nap to recover from all the excitement or it is time to get some sleep. That is just the kind of place Las Vegas is and the Excalibur holds up its end of the deal. For the family there are just a plethora of activities. The Excalibur features to large swimming pools that are perfect for a mid morning swim or afternoon sun tanning. The video arcade is a great place to let the kids run loose with some quarters while mom and dad pull on some slot machines. If the video arcade just isn’t big enough there is a GameWorks directly across the street that can fulfill the video gamming needs of even the most demanding teenager.
In the evening there are a number of different entertainment opportunities from fine dinning to casual fare, there a plenty of restaurants at the Excalibur to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. For those seeking a bit more entertainment with their meal there is the Tournament of Kings jousting dinner show. This is a great family adventure that allows everyone to have a pleasant meal together while watch armored warriors on horse back do battle for the king and his court. The show plays out dramatically as each section of the theatre gets to cheer on their champion. The show seems to have a new champion nightly so it is always exciting even if it isn’t your first time.
For those looking for a bit more in the way of adult entertainment the Excalibur hosts and features an all male review from Australia. These men are buff and beautiful and do just the darndest things while on stage. The show is called The Thunder From Down Under and well your imagination can fill in the rest from the title. Of course if a show is not what you had in mind there is always the casino. Patrons be they guests of the hotel or not have flocked to the Excalibur casino because the layout and atmosphere seems to appeal to those who are not high roller, but also not penny pinchers either. There is always something exciting happening in the casino and an air of playfulness can be found here, unlike some other Vegas properties that seem more serious and business like about their gaming. |
